4 signs that you need to see a chiropractor this spring

After the long, cold and hard winter just passed it's heartening to see the signs of spring appear. The earth is not the only thing that bears signs of a long winter though. This season is often rough on your body as well. If you exhibit any of the following signs, it could be time to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor.

1. Your joints and/or muscles hurt

Do you find that you are sore when you wake up in the mornings? Are your knees aching or does your neck hurt? Rather than offer a quick fix, a chiropractor digs deeper into your musculoskeletal health to determine the cause. Often a simple plan of chiropractic care, plus stretches and homeware advice can help you have pain free mornings and improve your quality of life.

2. You were in a car accident recently

Car accidents are one of the most common causes of underlying joint and muscle pain. Even something as minor as a fender bender that resulted in only minimal damage to your vehicle could have been enough to compromise your muscles and joints. A thorough examination by a chiropractor can help head off any issues that might be lurking just under the surface.

3. You were involved in another type of accident

While people often associate whiplash and other injuries with car accidents, these types of issues can occur with other accidents as well. Whether you've slipped and fallen outside on the wet grass or you were injured at work, it's important to assess your condition to rule out any underlying issues that could cause issues for you at a later date -- even if you have no symptoms currently.

4. Your range of motion is limited

All too often during the winter months we hear stories of people who "drop the ball" when it comes to physical activity and exercise. Sports shoes, gym memberships and exercise routines are swapped for ugg boots, hot chocolates and sleep-ins. This is a major contributing factor to back pain, bad posture and reduced range of motion as the joints and muscles stiffen up.

If you are suffering from a lack of motion within the range that you expect, it's a good idea to get an assessment by a chiropractor now before the issue has a chance to linger. Range of motion issues also affect people naturally as they age. If you feel this describes you, a chiropractor may help you regain the ability to move more easily with a personalised chiropractic care plan.
